A Brief History

Hi, I’m Charlotte, the owner of The Aroid Attic! I’ve always had a passion for looking after plants, helping my parents and grandparents out in the garden whilst growing up.

The first plant I ever purchased was a Monstera deliciosa, this then spiralled into a collection of over 200 plants. I started documenting them as ‘The Aroid Attic’ on Instagram, to research, document and share my own collection with others.

In 2018 I graduated university with an honors degree in Biomedical Science and like many people couldn’t work out what I wanted to do. I loved caring for my own collection of plants so my family encouraged me to mix my passion with business. That same year I registered The Aroid Attic as a business, and in the October we sold our first plant!

In May 2019 we expanded into the shop we know and love today on Bath Road in Cheltenham. We have grown as a small business since then and now have the wonderful Lorna on our team!

When new plants come into the shop we research each species/cultivar, aiming to be able to answer any question a customer may have.. and if we don’t know the answer we’ll certainly find out for you! Our aim is to provide quality plants and care guides so you can see them thrive.

We opened our second location at Sorrel Stores in August 2023!
